PAD-ATMs are operated by hand. Additionally, they store pads made by Jan Aushadhi Kendra and sell them for Rs 4 for a pack of four pads, making each pad cost Re 1. Furthermore, local coordinators manage the PAD-ATMs. They give pads to community women when asked for Rs 4. Moreover, when the pads run out, coordinators promptly send the money to GBF for refills within 24 to 36 hours.
Collaboration with local NGOs is essential for PAD-ATM success. It ensures smooth operation and careful monitoring, thus demonstrating GBF’s commitment to menstrual hygiene and empowering women with sanitary pads over cloth.
The PAD-ATM initiative began on August 19, 2022, in Raniganj, Tekari Block, Gaya, Bihar, with 50 pads. Subsequent refill requests from the community further underscore the demand for sanitary pads.
GBF’s journey with PAD-ATMs is just beginning, promising sustainable menstrual health empowerment.
