SPARSH
Amid the educational challenges faced by rural Bihar, Glad Bharat Foundation launched Project SPARSH (Strengthening Primary Achievement through Resources, Support, and Holistic Learning) to rebuild learning from the ground up in government schools.
The project began as a pilot in Mahodar village (Bodhgaya block) — one of IIM Bodh Gaya’s adopted villages — and already shows promising impact. According to media reports, IIM Bodh Gaya (via its Pragati CSR Committee) partnered with Glad Bharat Foundation to launch SPARSH in Mahodar, with student-faculty teams engaging more than 30 children. SPARSH Focuses On:
Activity-Based Learning: Children learn to read, write, and engage with math through games, stories and visual aids—making learning fun and relevant.
Teacher Empowerment: We train teachers in interactive, FLN-centred methods aligned with national benchmarks.
Parental & Community Engagement: Reading camps, parent-teacher discussions and local storytelling sessions help build a culture of learning beyond the classroom.
Continuous Assessment: Regular tracking of student progress helps identify learning gaps early and offer personalised support.
In the first few months, SPARSH has seen improved attendance, lively classroom participation, and children who once hesitated now reading aloud and solving puzzles confidently. Glad Bharat Foundation’s website highlights the program’s expansion plan to 25 schools in Bodhgaya block, reaching more than 1000 children.
This initiative is a collaborative effort of the Pragati CSR Committee of IIM Bodh Gaya, emphasising that quality learning is possible—even in resource-limited settings—when classrooms, communities and organisations come together. LinkedIn
Together, Project SPARSH is not only helping children learn—but restoring their confidence, sparking curiosity, and enabling their potential to grow.
